About Us

Centralian Middle School commenced operation at the beginning of the 2010 school year as a result of the merging of two local schools (Alice Springs High School and ANZAC Hill High School).

Centralian Middle School provides quality education for students in Year 7 through to Year 9. The Middle Years of Schooling provides young adolescents with the opportunity to explore themselves and the world in which they live. Centralian Middle School provides educational experiences that are meaningful and beneficial to all students and advance their learning capacity for future pathways to employment and training. Our school provides students with access to meaningful and appropriate teaching and learning programs including transition into and out of the Middle Years of Schooling; opportunities to become engaged through educational experiences that will lay the foundations of their future growth, development and participation in the Australian Community; achievement that is moderated and validated against the standards described in the Australian Curriculum. Our curriculum programs provide students with a broad range of rich, real, relevant and rigorous educational experiences.

With our Arts and Health and Physical Education programs and dedicated lessons in Information and Communication Technology, we are able to offer our students a broad and balanced curriculum which is complemented by programs such as NT Music School, Alice Springs Language Centre, Clontarf Academy, Girls at the Centre and Centralian Girls' Academy. At Centralian Middle School students have the opportunity to participate in seven different arts subjects: Food Technology, Textiles, Technology and Design, Visual Art, Media Art, Dance & Drama and Music.

Centralian Middle School is a safe and secure learning environment for students of all ages and achievement levels. We foster a whole school approach to positive behaviour, with respect being the most important attribute expected and employed by both staff and students. We take a dedicated approach to Pastoral Care; as such we have school counsellors, liaison officers and a nurse on-campus as part of our Well-being team.

We are privileged to have a talented and hard-working team and outstanding facilities for our students to discover and develop their talents; be they in the academic, arts or sporting fields.
