From the Principal
Dear families
Term 4 has well and truly swung into action with students focussing on their learning and challenging themselves to exceed what they have already achieved this year. Term 4 is when the learning falls into place for many students. They can start to consolidate on their learning for the year and start making new connections that previously they did not see. Its also a term with a significant focus on assessment, as teachers make on-balance judgements about what each student has learnt during the year.
We had our first assembly for a long time last week, and it was great to get the school back together to share and celebrate the stories and achievements of our students and staff. We have not been having assemblies since Term 1 as the gym has been out of action. Now that we have the gym back it looks great and has been almost constantly in use. It is going to become a hub for our school.
Transitioning has been moving at full steam. Our Year 9s are going back across to Centralian Senior College for the day on Thursday to help them build their familiarity with the school. On top of this we have had a regular flow of Year 6 students to help them feel more confident about making the transition to Centralian Middle School. On top of this, we are actively chasing down enrolments for next year. If you have or know of a Year 6 who is yet to complete enrolment forms, please get them to contact the school ASAP.
We unfortunately had to farewell a staff member last week. Mr Ryan Wiggins has had a change in his personal life which has required him to return to his family in NSW. Ms Viv Prebble is now working with the students in 9.1.

Teacher excellence recognised
Congratulations to Ms Stefanie Farr and Ms Kristi Beynon, both of whom were awarded Teacher Excellence Awards last week during World Teachers’ Day celebrations. Ms Farr was recognised as Secondary Teacher of the Year while My Beynon was recognised as Leader of the Year. They are truly deserving of these accolades and we are immensely proud of their work.
Reach Workshop for Year 8 students
The reach workshop provides students with positive strategies and skills they can apply at school and to their everyday life.

Alice Beat
The Alice Beat was held last night. This event unites government schools in a shared performance, showcasing singing, music and dance. The NT Music School organises the event.
CMS students performed as dancers and in bands, and they certainly excelled themselves. Congratulations to our students and to all of the students involved in last night’s Beat. Huge thanks to the NT Music School for bringing this event together.

Morning Trainings
The final term has begun and morning trainings have picked up from where they left off in term 3, attendance has been fantastic with the average being in the high 20s. We’ve also started to utilise the new gym, which the boys are really enjoying.
After school activities
A new addition this term is some new bubble balls, which are used to play soccer. In week 2 some of our Year 8 fellas had a lot of fun and laughter’s trying them.

National Bandana Day cancer awareness at Alice Plaza
On Friday Tom took Reece, Laine and Angus to Alice Plaza to volunteer for National Bandana day. They sold bandanas to raise money for cancer research. Well done boys!
