To all of our students and families,
Welcome to the 2015 school year. It has been great to see such a positive start to our school year. Our new year seven students have arrived fresh-faced and ready to learn. It has been lovely to see them all willing to make new friends and learn about their new school environment. We also have quite a few new students in years eight and nine. New students always freshen up our school by offering new opportunities for friendships. There will be a number of opportunities for families to come in and meet our staff and I urge all families to join in these events. The better we work together, the higher the outcomes for our students will be. Please help your children by helping them being prepared for school. We know students do better at school when families show interest in what they are learning.
Of course at every school, students occasionally run into some difficulties. Please let us know straight away if you have any concerns.
Don’t forget, every child is entitled to a back to school voucher to the value of $150 towards school expenses, but they need to be spent by the end of the first term. You just need to come into school to sign the form, and you can use the voucher there and then.
Best Wishes to everyone for a great year,
Donna O’Brien

Welcome back to all of our G@C girls, we hope you all had a fun and safe break! We would also like to welcome the new Year 7 girls – we are all really looking forward to getting to know you and will do our best to help you settle into CMS
‘Girls at the Centre’ is a fun mentoring and support program, run by The Smith Family. We are here to make sure that girls at CMS get the most out of their education and that they feel safe and supported at school. We provide the girls support both in and out of the classroom and we have a girls-only space for the students to hang out during break times and build friendships in a safe place. We always have a lot of fun together and try to make school an exciting and happy place for our students!
Cake Decorating on Tuesdays
Next week we will be starting our free afterschool activities – we will be doing Cake Decorating on Tuesdays and Wheelchair Basketball on Thursdays and will drop you off home on the bus afterward! You will need permission from your family to attend. We have 20 spots available each session; all girls are welcome to attend
We will also be starting our Bacon and Egg Brekkie every Thursday morning where you can have a feed and listen to different speakers each week.
Drop into our room over the next few weeks for lunchtime activities and fun times! If you would like to sign up to our program this year please see our friendly coaches for more information. Our new G@C T-shirts should be here any day and will be distributed after the 3 week trial period.
Clontarf Academy
Welcome
The Centralian Middle School Clontarf Academy programme was established in 2007 and is operated out of Centralian Middle School in Alice Springs. The Academy caters for indigenous students from Years 7 to 9. The Clontarf Foundation exists to improve the education, discipline, life skills, self-esteem and employment prospects of young Aboriginal men and by doing so equips them to participate meaningfully in society.
The Centralian Middle School Clontarf Academy engages its members through activities which build leadership, discipline and self-esteem and has seen positive outcomes in many areas including increased school attendance and self-esteem. Students who participate in Clontarf undertake a wide range of activities from educational excursions, camps, sport games, health checks, lunches, healthy cook-ups, just to name a few. Each activity is developed at targeting one of the five key learning pillars of the Clontarf program; Education, Employment, Leadership, Well-being and Healthy Lifestyles.
This year we would like to welcome all new and returning students for what will be a truly exciting and fun packed year at Clontarf!
All parents, family and students are welcome to come over to Clontarf and meet one of our friendly staff to hear more about the program.
Warm Regards,
Tom Clements | Director
